WINTER ACTIVITIES ABOUND IN
THE COLUMBIA VALLEY
Radium Hot Springs is perfectly situated for winter activities including snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, ice skating & hockey, fat tire biking and more.  Terrain for snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and fat tire biking is not only abundant in the Radium Hot Springs and Columbia Valley area, but close.  Ice skate or snow tube right in the heart of the Village, or ice skate on serene frozen lake.  Take advantage of our winter activity rentals to make the most of your time. 

From our location on Main Street Radium Hot Springs we have snowshoes and cross-country ski packages, fat tire bikes, ice skates as well as ice skating helmets and hockey sticks & pucks all for rent.

Play safe.  Rent avalanche safety gear and be sure to check current avalanche conditions before you head out.

Here’s a few ideas for snowshoeing, ice skating & hockey, sledding and fat tire biking in and around Radium Hot Springs, Invermere, the Columbia Valley and Rocky Mountains.

SNOWSHOEING​ 
  • Kootenay National Park Trails - Find a trail or untouched area with some good deep snow in the stunning surroundings of the Rocky Mountains.  Drop in to the Kootenay National Park gate and ask for some info on trails, they're happy to help.

  • The Back Country - Cross the frozen Columbia River Wetlands to the west of Radium Hot Springs for your choice in untouched snowshoeing terrain in the Purcell Mountains.

ICE SKATING & HOCKEY
  • Radium Hot Springs Village Rink - Ice skate or play some shinny in the heart of the Village of Radium Hot Springs on the outdoor rink for a perfect winter experience.

  • Radium Hot Springs Mill Pond - If the water is well frozen you may find a ploughed space and an ice skating track on the wetlands pond/lake just across the railway tracks to the west of our lumber mill.  Ice skate in this breathtaking natural setting.  Be safe, make sure the ice is appropriatley thick for skating.

  • Lake Windermere Whiteway - From Kinsmen Beach in Invermere access recreational skating and hockey ice as well as more than 30 Km of maintained ice skating trail right on Lake Windermere.This ice trail made the Guinness Book of Records for length.Thanks to the Toby Creek Nordic Ski Club for this one.

SNOW TUBING
  • Radium Hot Springs Village Park - Right in the heart of Radium Hot Springs, the Village Park has great sledding spots from gentle slope in the SW corner to an intentional chute behind the community centre for a faster ride.  Pick sled to rent from our many types and have some family fun.

FAT BIKING
  • Sinclair Creek Trail - An excellent choice for fat tire biking right in the Village of Radium Hot Springs, this trail is hidden away at the bottom of Sinclair Canyon after Sinclair Creek crosses to the west side of Hwy 95.Slightly wider than single track, the trail follows Sinclair Creek through a forested area that makes you think you’ve left the village altogether.Not a long ride, but well worth it.

  • Kootenay National Park - Rent a fat tire bike and a rack if you need it, and head into the heart of the Rocky Mountains to fat bike in the picturesque surroundings of Kootenay National Park.  Biking is permitted on a number of trails within the Park.Talk to our friends at the Radium Hot Springs visitor centre or the Park Gate for more details.

  • Johnson-Kloosifier - Located just outside Invermere on the road to Panorama Resort less than 20 minutes from our front door.  Rent fat tire bikes and a rack if you need it, and head to this bike trail network for all levels of skill.
